The Swiss Federal Railways SBB constructed a new building called BYTE on the Wankdorf City site in Bern.
The building, which has a volume of around 100,000 m3 and a surface area of 28,000 m2, is intended to bring the SBB brand to life and to become a meeting place where innovation flourishes.
The workplaces of around 1,700 IT employees were previously spread across various locations in the Bern area. With the construction of BYTE, these workplaces will now be consolidated in a single building.
For those responsible for the project, the building has something revolutionary about it, and one of its aims is to rekindle SBB’s pioneering spirit. BYTE is considered a seedbed, where fun, ambition, human interaction and creativity are palpable.
We’re proud to have been able to contribute to the success of this project. Workplaces must be able to adapt to new ways of working and a variety of organisational forms. With our products, BYTE’s workspaces remain flexible and can be adapted according to individual needs.
